Machiyo Kodaira is a Brooklyn-based designer and illustrator. Her expertise lies in designing textile prints and patterns on a seasonal basis for the women's, men's and children's apparel and accessories market.
Born and raised in Tokyo, Japan, she moved to New York in her early 20's to pursue her dream to be a professional artist and designer. Machiyo received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Illustration from Parsons School of Design. She also carries associate degrees in Fashion Design and Textile/Surface Design from Fashion Institute of Technology.
Machiyo has many years of experience in the fashion and graphic design industries. Currently, she works as a freelance textile print designer, combining graphic art and fashion through a unique and eclectic mix of design styles, supported by her exquisite drawing techniques. Such techniques are influenced by both traditional and modern Japanese art, a strong sense of color and advanced digital design skills.
She is also an enthusiastic baker and a jewelry designer, spending long hours on weekends in her kitchen baking healthy treats, or at her work desk working on her handcrafted jewelry collections.
